RELEASED ON PROTOCORE RECORDS!

(PC20) Disrrr - Municipal Council

"WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING? SLEEPING? I MADE 4 TRACKS TODAY ALREADY!"

This is a Facebook post I once saw by Swedish breakcore producer Disrrr and to be honest he's not wrong. What are you all doing? Fuck what am I doing for that matter?

Disrrr is a prolific dark and heavy breakcore machine. If he says he's already made 4 tracks in the first half of his day, I'd sure as shit believe him. He's pumped out at least a dozen releases on various labels in the last few years as well as self released on his own Bandcamp.

The guy is a machine.

He could just be The Ramones of breakcore. Prolific, enthusiastic and addicted to the loudest and most obnoxious and abrasive sound possible.

Although he's actually quite a polite and friendly guy. But like The Ramones he's a demon once he hits the studio and his music is inspired by his life around him. Both political and personal is Disrrr but it's subversive like any great punk is and usually hits you in the face when you figure it out. Titles like "I Burn Dem" and "I Sleep When I Wanna" are definitely Ramoneseque.

On "Municipal Council" he smashes his way out of the gate with "In Between" which almost dares you to relax and fall asleep before catapulting some insanely noisy and fucked up breaks at you.

There's a lot of old school mentality on this album. Quiet/Loud/Quiet dynamics, beautifully overdriven breaks and sample slices and menacing sub basses. The ragga love is throughout this album which is a bit of a familiar element to Disrrr's style and why not really? He's utilising ragga loops in interesting ways and he knows how important it is to get a sub bass riding the curb of the track.
